GYS Mission statement:

Using sports as a “vehicle,” GYS will help the youth to develop as strong, independent, well-rounded individuals with the skills needed to live a successful and meaningful life and to become leaders and productive members of our global society.

GYS' first international event was in 1996 with Colegio Interamericano of Guatemala and a Portuguese team from Bridgeport, Connecticut. Since then, thousands of children and their families have participated and currently participate in the GYS international programs in different countries.
